Description:

This function return the Euclidean norm, sqrt(x*x + y*y).

Syntax:

hypot(x, y)

Note: This function is not accessible directly so we need to import math module and then we need to call this function using math static object.

Parameters:

Here is the detail of parameters:

  • x: Must be a numeric value

  • y: Must be a numeric value

Return Value:

The Euclidean norm, sqrt(x*x + y*y).

Example:

#!/usr/bin/python
import math

print "hypot(3, 2) : ",  math.hypot(3, 2)
print "hypot(-3, 3) : ",  math.hypot(-3, 3)
print "hypot(0, 2) : ",  math.hypot(0, 2)

This will produce following result:

hypot(3, 2) :  3.60555127546
hypot(-3, 3) :  4.24264068712
