Python File fileno() Method

Description:

This method returns the integer file descriptor that is used by the underlying implementation to request I/O operations from the operating system.

Syntax:

fileObject.fileno(); 

Parameters:

Here is the detail of parameters:

  • NA

Example:

#!/usr/bin/python

# Open a file
fo = open("foo.txt", "wb")
print "Name of the file: ", fo.name

fid = fo.fileno()
print "File Descriptor: ", fid

# Close opend file
fo.close()

This produces following result:

Name of the file:  foo.txt
File Descriptor:  3
